Starbound Food on a Budget. I found a great deal on a bunch of groceries for 5 pounds of chicken and 2 quarts of produce.
This weekend we were able to find some fresh-cut fruit and two bags of beans (and a bunch of other things we weren’t sure we’re even in the store). We ended up spending $40 to $50 on these items. Which is about half of what we spend on most groceries per week.
Also, we found a great deal on a bunch of cheese at the same time
We got 2 quarts instead of the 4 pounds of chicken and 2 pounds of produce. And we got the same price on cheese. Not bad for a food deal.
We also spent about $30 on all of these things, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer. If we wanted to make up for this, we probably would’ve spent 20 on chicken and 10 pounds of produce, and we could have gotten 2 quarts of cheese.
The average American eats 20 pounds of food a year, and that’s only counting the food we eat for ourselves. We also use gas to drive a car, so food is definitely going to have a major impact on the cost of our vehicles. That said, most of the things we buy are fairly “average” in cost, and we can usually stretch those out. We also get food stamps, so we aren’t eating out as much as we would like.
One of the things that we see most is that food is expensive. If you are shopping for a weekly meal plan, expect to spend $100 or more on food. Even if you do manage to eat less than this, you will still need to buy food because of the cost of food stamps and how you use them.
Starbound Food on a Budget:
Food stamps are a great way to stretch out a meal plan. That said, we can often stretch out the food budget by buying smaller amounts of food. We can also do this by buying more things in bulk as we do with our video game consoles and audio systems. We use our video game consoles and audio systems to record and stream music, and we use our computers to play games, so a lot of our food budget is spent on things like that.
So when you buy something like an audio system or video game console, make sure you spend a little more than you think you need for it. If you’re like most people, you want to buy it for the money you’re spending on food. So instead of buying six $50+ audio and video systems, buy one $50+ system. You’ll be saving $50+ on food every time you use something you buy.
Don’t panic if you fall short of your goal. Sometimes we do get items wrong. For instance, if you buy a new TV, you probably won’t get every channel on it. But if it’s an Apple TV, you might get every channel on it. If you buy a new speaker, it’s often a mistake to buy the biggest one that is on your system.
